Beer and Blog Phoenix

The next Beer and Blog will be this Tuesday, 2/17 at Four Peaks Brewing Co in Tempe. We are again going to try and setup camp in the back corner behind the bar near the brewing equipment. I will be bringing materials to make some name tags to help everyone get to know each other’s names if you don’t already. Also, as requested last week I will be making a sign so that it is easier to find us.

Last night was the very first Phoenix Beer and Blog, and we managed a very respectable showing of 8 people. This is significant considering that there were some competing events/meetups at the same time, and the mishap with the invites going out late. About half of our attendees were currently blogging, the other half was interested in getting started or was just there for the beer. Either way a good time was had by all and we managed to keep nearly everyone there until about 10PM chatting about various websites, startups, other social groups, our day jobs, side projects, and everything in between.

In addition to those that made it out last night I had many others send me Tweets or emails saying that they were sorry that they missed the first one, but will be at the next and future meetups for sure.

The First Phoenix Beer and Blog is Tomorrow Night (2/10/2009) at 6:30PM @ Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe. I am going to try and setup camp in the back corner behind the bar near the brewing equipment. I am in the process of working out the details for our first meetup. Right now I am shooting for having our first meeting 2/10 with weekly meetings each Tuesday afterwards. I know the first Tuesday of each month is Refresh Phoenix and this will conflict with that, but with weekly meetings I think that we will make up for it knowing that sometimes there may not be many folks present.

I am heading to Four Peaks Brewery tonight to talk to the manager to see if we can snag the back section next to the actual Brewery, or at least part of it from 6:30 PM – 8:30PM on Tuesdays. As a backup plan in the event they do not want to commit to each week, I will scout out other locations for every other week.

Beyond that I have been trying to spread the word that Beer and Blog is coming to PHX. So far I have received great interest and support from folks such as Jason Baer (@JayBaer) with Convince and Convert, Adam Pierno (@apierno) with Santy, Chuck Reynolds (@chuckreynolds), the whole Off Madison Ave (@OffMadison) & Mighty Interactive (@MightyTweet) crew, and many more. I think we already have some great presenters and content lined up from everyone who has expressed interest in Blog and Beer Phoenix.
